Overland Flow Entitlements

Queensland Water Advisory Services (QWAS) has supported landholders facing challenges with access rights to overland flow water on their property.

We understand the complexities of overland flow regulation and management in Queensland and have helped our clients prepare documents associated with securing their overland flow entitlements.

Property Sale Prospectus

A recent QWAS client required a prospectus to support a property sale. QWAS prepared a report which summarised the water resources associated with the property, an overview of the catchment and some data on the flow data for the particular river system.

Submission to Government

QWAS recently supported a client whose water security is being negatively impacted by a neighbouring mining activity.

Our client had an opportunity to lodge a submission recording their concerns to the Queensland government and engaged QWAS to help prepare this important document.

The submission not only recorded our clients' concerns for their on-farm water security but also drew on available evidence to support their concerns.

Ultimately the submission was used by a number of neighbouring property owners with similar concerns and the cost of the submission was shared amongst the neighbours.

Review of Water Options

A recent QWAS client was considering a new farm project which would require significant volumes of water. Our client wanted to better understand options for improving water security on the property.

QWAS explored the three types of water associated with the property, summarised the challenges and opportunities for each water type and provided a review of options for securing further water for the new project.

Support for Legal Action

Some clients require legal action to protect their water rights. QWAS supports our clients through the legal process by providing the necessary supporting documents and evidence to assist our client's legal team.

In some circumstances our strong understanding of how water is used in agriculture has assisted our client's legal team to better under the complexities of the matter.
